The Town of Grimsby, together with the Downtown Improvement Area (DIA) and Niagara Region have been working with GSP Group Consultants to complete a Community Improvement Plan (CIP) for the Grimsby Downtown.  The CIP provides for a package of incentive programs that seek to encourage developments and improvements.

The process is nearing completion.  A Public Meeting was held in January 26,  2010, and changes to the plan have been incorporated to reflect input received.  The final plan will be before the Town's Planning and Development Committee on March 30, 2010, with Council considering approval on April 5, 2010.

2010 INTERIM BILLING
Friday, 15 January 2010 00:00

2010 INTERIM TAX BILLING

FIRST INSTALLMENT DUE MARCH 05, 2010

The 2010 Interim tax bills have been mailed to interested parties as shown on the Assessment Roll.  Please contact the tax office at 905-945-9634 if you have not received your tax bill.  Failure to receive a bill does not excuse the payment of taxes.

Payments can be made at most financial institutions or by telephone and Internet banking.  Visa and Mastercard payments are accepted, on line or by phone only, with a convenience fee.  No credit card payments are accepted at Town Hall.  Installments can also be paid by post dated cheques provided the taxes are paid by the regular due dates.  For your convenience there is a night depository, for cheque payments only, at the back door of Town Hall.

Please ensure that your payment reaches us on or before the due dates.   The taxpayer is responsible for the late arrival of payment.  Penalties of 1 ¼% are added on the first day of default and on the first day of each month following.  Penalties cannot be waived.

S. Gruninger, CGA
Director of Finance & Town Treasurer

IMPORTANT

JANUARY 2010 PRE-AUTHORIZED TAX INSTALLMENT

For those taxpayers enrolled in our monthly pre-authorized payment plan, it has come to our attention that the January 15th installment was withdrawn from your bank account as of January 12, 2010. The Town had arranged for this transaction to be reversed. If the transaction has not yet been reversed, please contact us as soon as possible.

To allow for this correction, the regular January 15th installment will be postponed one week and will now occur on January 22, 2010.

Please review your bank account.  If you have incurred charges with regard to this transaction, please supply us with a photocopy of your bank statement showing the charges and a refund will be issued to you.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and if you require further information please contact the Tax Department at 905-945-9634.
