Flashing Green Lights Text to speach audio PDF Print E-mail

green1

Why does that car have a flashing green light? What is a flashing green light? What does it mean?

Your confusion COULD cost someone their life. Please take the time to read more on flashing green lights.

On December 9, 1994 legislation was enacted through an amendment to thethat allows firefighters use the flashing green light to make other drivers aware that they are responding to? a potential life and death situation. They may be responding to a neighbour or even a loved ones home, every second counts!  The volunteer firefighter’s vehicle is not designated as an emergency response vehicle; as such your assistance in yielding the right of way is paramount to the effectiveness of the green light program. As our town grows, so does the traffic volume; inevitably resulting in longer response times. With your help, flashing green lights are an effective tool to reduce response times and deployment rates of emergency apparatus.

If you see a vehicle with a flashing green light please pull over (when safe to do so), come to a complete stop, and allow the firefighter to pass. Please help us help you!

Thank you Grimsby! Text to speach audio PDF Print E-mail

THANK YOU GRIMSBY!

Thank you to the 880 residents that was able to attend the GFD 2011 Annual Open House that was held on Sunday September 25. It is very encouraging to see so many families come together and participate in our event, it is also very important to note that YOU are getting the message that most residential fires are preventable. You are the first line of defence and we need your continued support to protect our loved ones.

GFD will not stop here, we will continue to spread the word any way we can. Fire Prevention Week is approaching very fast, so please, “Protect Your Family from Fire”.
